Noted literary critic Dr M Thomas Mathew has been selected for the prestigious Vayalar Rama Varma literary award for this year.

Mathew was chosen for the honour for his work "Marar-lavanyathinte yukthisilpam", a study on the contributions of eminent litterateur Kuttikrishna Marar. This was announced by Vayalar Ramavarma Trust president Prof M K Sanu at a news conference in Thiruvananthapuram today.

The award, instituted in memory of eminent poet and lyricist Vayalar Rama Varma, carries 25,000 rupees in cash, a citation and a memento.
